Wipe Partition Cache Moto Z3

2018-12-05, 15:32 PM

If this is already addressed somewhere, I apologize and just point me in the right direction. I did a search and did not find it. On my old Moto Z it was easy to clear the cache partition in recovery, but when I tried to do that on my new Moto Z3, the option was not listed????? How to you clear the cache partition on the Moto Z3.

Hi SoccerRef12,

Thanks for posting. Clear Cache Partition is not available for Moto Z3 because it has 2 types of partition, the A/B partition which doesn't require you to manually clear the system cache. However, you can perform the clear cache for a specific app via Settings > Apps > "Name of the App" > Storage > Clear Cache. Let me know if you have a question. Thanks.

I found the reply to the OP odd as I am almost 100% sure I have done it in the past..

Hi circe801,

You're device no longer has the option to clear the system cache partition because it uses the new Seamless (A:B) update process. The OS no longer caches system updates. This is why there is no clear cache partition in the Recovery menu.
