Z4 case compatible with Moto Mods?

2019-06-06, 15:11 PM

Has anyone seen any cases for the Z4 that are compatible with the Moto Mods? I have a bumper case on my Z2 that works with the Mods - I'm looking for something like that.

No, not yet.  There are very few cases at all available at this point.  And the ones I have seen on Amazon and eBay are made by lesser known companies, so I worry about the quality.  The only bumper cases that were really any good for Mods on the Z, Z2 and Z3 we're the bumper cases through Verizon.  Since Verizon is carrying the Z4 hopefully they will have the same bumper case for it eventually, and it will be as nice as the Z, Z2 and Z3 cases they sold.

And why do the case manufacturers all have a cutout for the Moto Mod pins?  We are 4 years into the Z line and they still don't understand that if you are using a case you aren't using Moto Mods.....so cover the pin connector.  It's kind of silly.

Totally agree about the cutouts!

I ordered a cheap silicone case that'll hold me over until a bumper case is available.

Thanks!

I just ordered a TPU case this morning.  Don't even have the phone yet.  ?. But plan on buying one at Verizon next week.  Since this will be my first non-Shattershield screen since 2015 I figured I would keep it in a TPU case and remove the case when I need to use one of my Moto Mods.  At least those rubbery / silicone TPU cases pop off and on very easily.  I just hope it has the pins covered like pictured in Amazon.  Or I will send it right back.  I have to get used to worrying about dropping a phone again.  Shattershield has spoiled me and I haven't worried about dropping a phone for years.

That's a good point, thanks for sharing.  Since the phones are very similar in physical size (only different by a few MM here & there) the bumper cases for the Z2 might work OK.  I think I still have my Z2 Force - Verizon brand bumper case packed away somewhere.  I might have to give that a try if I buy a Z4 this week.

the force doesn't have a headphone jack so it prob won't work as well whereas the  Z2 play does.  The only issue is that the power button doesn't line up really great but it's good enough till something more proper is released.

sajokaz,

Does your Verizon store have them in stock? I was just looking on the Verizon website and they don't even list the z4 yet. Probably going to get my hubby one to upgrade from his Droid Turbo 2. He's interested in the Hasselblad mod. Or I may take the Z4  and give him my Z2Force.

Don't mean to hijack the thread about the cases, but was curious about in store availability since it's not yet online at the Verizon website.

Verizon is supposed to have them on Thursday the 13th.

Thanks for the correction.  I keep forgetting that the Z4 has a headphone jack.  After not having one for three years that will take some getting used to again.
