Those are the links for the case and tape I used. The purpose of the tape is to keep the case from falling off - the case doesn't fit snugly once the back is cut off. I'll post a few pics tonight.

This is what I ordered. I have no clue if it was a dumb impulse buy or not. It has a front part that snaps to the back (the back is TPU which I will be cutting out). So, does this give it any advantage? Will it stay on without tape because of the two pieces or did I just waste $10?

Should be here soon. So when I get it and modify it, I'll definitely let you guys know if it's any better.

I'm not exactly thrilled about putting sticky tape on my new shiny phone! But if it comes down to it I guess I will have to.

Anyway, here is the case. I ordered the black. The other color is white. Fingers crossed!

I guess my other option is to just keep using this Droid turbo phone bumper. I don't mind it the buttons almost lineup. I've actually gotten used to it. So if this new case doesn't pan out I guess I might just stick to this bumper that I'm using right now. I just hope it provides enough protection along with my Zagg glass screen protector. Seems to anyway. I have not dropped my phone yet. *knock on wood*

Re: Z4 case compatible with Moto Mods?

I have good and so so news.

The case I bought is amazing for modifying! (https://www.amazon.com/Aeska-Absorbent-Shockproof-Defender-Protective/dp/B07SV329TM/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?keywords=moto%2Bz4%2Bbumper&qid=1562003610&s=gateway&sr=8-6&th=1&psc=1)

I will tell you how I did it and include pictures.

The so so news is (as you will see in the pictures) that the rubber piece that goes around the plastic snap on piece that you first snap on to the Z4 is quite loose. The plastic piece that is first attached is not terribly loose. Therefore, a simple fix would be to tape or glue the rubber piece and then slide it over the plastic piece and it would be affixed permanently that way all nice and snug. Then you'd simply snap the plastic piece on for the bumper portion.

So anyway, being a quilter I immediately turned to my rotary cutter to remove the hard plastic back of this rubber grippy bumper. I was making progress until I realized I just could have pulled it off with my hands using a little muscle after the initial cut from the hard plastic! Once you make that initial split, you can notice it starts to just peel off from the hard plastic on its own with some work! Best case scenario!

I love how grippy it is. The color doesn't bother me too much. I love the ports and buttons and speakers being properly aligned and opened.

It is definitely more of a good grip than Verizon brand bumpers. I hope the lip is high enough for screen protection. I can see it is higher than the screen. So I'm hoping this is a good sign. I also have a glass screen protector on though. So, there's that.

I didn't know how muted my Z4's sound was until just now!

I will tape or glue the rubber piece to the plastic snap on piece and see how that goes. If I still feel it's loose or wobbly I may have to tape the plastic piece to my phone as well. But I'm hoping it won't come to that!

I actually might order another one because I'm a perfectionist and I cut too deep with the initial cut with my rotary cutter. Lol so there is a little divot on the left back side. It bothers me. Lol.

Tread carefully if you use sharp tools my friends and good luck if you try out this case! It comes in this black color or a white color as well. Enjoy!
