notifications while using bluetooth

2019-11-07, 16:44 PM

I automatically connect my phone to my car via bluetooth so I can be handsfree.  When I am listening to the car radio (not using bluetooth)  I am not getting any notification sounds - ie text messages.  I assume the sound is being sent to the car audio which I am not using.  How do i get the sound notification to come through the phone and not the bluetooth?

I could be mistaken, but if you are connected to a Bluetooth device that supports audio (like a car system, or a speaker, etc.) then that is the default path for alert / notification sounds.  I don't think you can change that, other than disconnecting from Bluetooth when you want to listen to the radio.

I have slightly different issue, Moto Z4 latest software, Jabra Bluetooth (Also same with Moto Boom2+), Ringtone and notifications come through bluetooth and phone speaker. Can't stop sound coming through phone. If I turn down volumes, then I can't hear them in the bluetooth. Motorola says it's the bluetooth problem and Jabra says it's the phone.

My Boom 2 does the same thing, notifications sound through the phone and earpiece at the same time.  I always assumed that was intentional.  Since headsets like the Boom can stay connected up to 30 feet away from the phone you might not hear the phone ringing, but you will hear it in your ear and can answer with a tap of the master button.  I kind of like it that way, but not sure if that is how it was intended or not.
