Yes, the replacement fee, for the shatter shield, is $49.00.

Well, that's great for the rest of us that already paid the fee to have the shatter shield replaced......

I hope the same thing happens to me (Motorola calling me to take care of this issue).  I really like the phone and my brother wanted to buy one from T-Mobile for $375 but I asked him to hold off due to the poor support.

Re: Moto Z2 Force Screen Shield Adhesive Came Off

2017-12-07, 19:21 PM

I've purchased (either under contract or several at full price to keep unlimited with Verizon) every single flagship phone Motorola has produced within days of release or pre-ordered since the original razor flip except the Turbo2. While I have a had few instances (around 5 in 15 yrs) I've had to deal with their warranty department, all have been mostly pleasant interactions with replacement phones/devices sent out promptly with one cross-ship phone..

Until this peeling shatter shield screen on a 4 month old phone! after I realized while trying to peel it off that it wasn't meant to be user removed I started searching forums and came across all these people being charged $50 to have them replace a delaminating screen on 3 and 4 month old phones (or $150 if they tried to remove it themselves).. Luckily they didn't even try to pull that bs with me when I called them on 11/28, they did however tell me that they had apparently set up a whole new Dept to deal with this issue and they didn't have any way to connect me directly to them, that they would have to call me back. They did call me back on 11/29 and set up free shipping label (I ofcourse had to go to a FedEx store and to a UPS store to actually print off the label because the quick scan they sent me wouldn't pick up in FedEx computer and back to FedEx and had to pay $9 for a cell phone shipping box)

So I'm already out the 2 hour process of going to drop it off and pay for box and printing a label

But the gentleman who authorized the RMA told me it would be overnighted both ways and would be a one day turn around once they received my phone, they received it the morning of 12/5 and it still hasn't even registered in their RMA system yet!! I've called and been transferred to their "control tower" on 12/6 and 12/7 and they keep telling me they're sorry that I was "misinformed" by the original representative, the first guy David told me it might ship out yesterday, then the guy I talked to today said it is always 3-5 business days! If I'd known it would be this long I would've demanded a replacement phone!

After all this BS I sincerely hope I get an email from them wanting to charge me $150 for starting to remove it myself!!!

Just curious if they will be sending you a NEW phone or a REFURBISHED one... Maybe I'm just a little picky, but over the years when I've had to have phones from various manufacturers replaced under warranty I've ALWAYS been sent a refurbished phone, and I don't think that is the right thing to do. We buy new phones at premium prices, and when something goes wrong we get them replaced with other peoples' used crap that was suposedly repaired. Personally, I think that these phones should be recalled and replaced with new phones that havemhad this defect - yes, I said DEFECT - corrected.

OK, I feel better now that I have vented a little...

I had the same thing. It was only "damaged" because the screen started peeling and I pulled a bit thinking it was a thing I forgot to remove. They'll tell you it's $150. I told them their support is awful and to just send my device back.
