I don't think a phone needs to be marketed as scratch resistant to consider it a defect when normal everyday use results in the screen covered in scratches in a matter of days.

Every phone and pda about 10 years ago  was a plastic screen. Everyday use would scratch them so most people got screen protectors. Plastic has always had a downside - easy to scratch.

The scratches aren't the problem, it's the fact that the shattershield is peeling off on a lot of the z2's

Congrats to Moto on a screen comparable to PDAs from 10 years ago. Seriously you are doing them a disservice as a mod by acting so dismissive of our legitimate complaints.

Actually no, but think that if you wish. the tech in a screen today is very different then a pda. It is amazing that they can build a touchscreen that works the way it does that is not glass. The point you missed is everyone knew plastic scratched then, and it hasn't changed.

The shattershield is not marketed as scratch proof or scratch resistant. claiming that plastic scratching is a defect, ignores the fact that it is plastic.

Shattershield is sold to those worried about breaking their screen. I bought mine for that reason and put a screen protector on it. Purchasers of shattershield 2 years ago were putting screen protectors on back then. Motorola has publicly said that shatteshield can scratch and users may want a screen protector. But people also put screen protectors on glass screens as they scratch too.

Maybe phones with shattershield screens are not for everyone. I love mine, i pre-ordered it and it does everything i expected. I have no peeling or scratches.

But if you think it is a defect, feel free to contact customer service.

Agree, Seems the peeling issue is becoming more wide spread. Some even say with a screen protector to protect against scratches peeling is starting by the finger print reader. This is totality unexpected!

Hello,

Same here, my Moto Z2 Force shattershield was scratched, I paid $49 for a replacement but now it is scratched again, just for using it in my pocket (obviously without coins or keys).

I'm very dissapointed about paying about $200 more for a phone that it's supposed to be "Force", I hope soon Motorola release a better shattershield quality, for now it seems that the only solution is to use third-party a screen protector.

Its been a couple months. When is the screen replacement option going to become available?? My screen is constantly getting scratched and I have a few deep groves in my screen that really bother me. I would love to switch out the upper layer.

You can get the top replaced for $49.00.  You have to call Moto, have them open a case, and they will have you ship the phone back to them for repair.  With that said, the replacement doesn't change anything.  If you don't put a screen protector on it will be scratched up again in no time.

This is exactly what happened to me, paid the $49 and it scratched up again.

While Motorola doesn't give us a solution we should to look for a good screen protector that doesn't leave bubbles, I ordered one from IQ Shield, have you tried any?
