Re: turn off haptic feedback fingerprint sensor

2018-03-09, 15:18 PM
"option" is a key thing in this story... and we are talking about basic option, functionality, not a pleasing thing... we are talking here about bothering option, inconvenient, i'm not talking about for example: toggle for screenshot and design flaws... I don't want my phone to vibrate all the time, if it can't vibrate in power saving mode and Do not Disturb mode - than give me the third choice - to turn it off and on when i want, very easy...

Re: turn off haptic feedback fingerprint sensor

2018-03-10, 13:16 PM

Dit it really?
I find that amusing, because it didn't work for me.

Can't figure out how it could work on one device and not in another.

It follows bellow what I have done, if anyone would like to give it a go.

Regards.

First steps:

-------------------------------------------------

download adb for windows
enable usb debugging
command prompt, admin
adb devices -> device listed, enable on device

Using shell, following forum/web advices:

-------------------------------------------------

adb shell
pm list packages -f | grep motorola | wc -l
75
pm list packages -f | grep actions
package:/data/app/com.motorola.actions-1/base.apk=com.motorola.actions
cmd appops set com.motorola.actions VIBRATE ignore
vibrate still on
pm list packages -f | grep motorola.moto
package:/system/priv-app/Moto/Moto.apk=com.motorola.moto
cmd appops set com.motorola.moto VIBRATE ignore
vibrate still on
cmd appops set com.motorola.ccc.devicemanagement VIBRATE ignore
cmd appops set com.lenovo.lsf.user VIBRATE ignore
vibrate still on

Since it didn't work, trying other things:

-------------------------------------------------
pm list packages -f | grep finger
cmd appops set com.fingerprints.serviceext VIBRATE ignore
vibrate still on

Checking google once again:

-------------------------------------------------
turn off fingerprint scanner vibration
adb turn off fingerprint scanner vibration
nothing

Searching every package for a suggestive package name:

-------------------------------------------------

pm list packages -f | wc -l
251

pm list packages -f | sort

Filtering some packages that apparently could do the trick:

package:/oem/priv-app/BRApps2/BRApps2.apk=com.motorola.brapps
package:/system/priv-app/LenovoId/LenovoId.apk=com.lenovo.lsf.user
package:/system/priv-app/MotoKey/MotoKey.apk=com.motorola.motokey
package:/system/priv-app/MotoKeySystemSupport/MotoKeySystemSupport.apk=com.motorola.motokeysystem

cmd appops set com.motorola.motokey VIBRATE ignore
vibrate still on
cmd appops set com.motorola.motokeysystem VIBRATE ignore
vibrate still on
cmd appops set com.lenovo.lsf.user VIBRATE ignore
vibrate still on
cmd appops set com.motorola.brapps VIBRATE ignore
vibrate still on

reboot

vibrate still on

kudos to u.. would be nice to include some developers here because this peer-to-peer connection with them doesn't work!

Re: turn off haptic feedback fingerprint sensor

An update: it IS possible to remove haptic feedback fingerprint sensor.

This will batch disable vibration for all processes (user and system alike):

In ADB do this:

for pkg in $( pm list packages | cut -d: -f2); do
appops set $pkg VIBRATE ignore
done

If you test it at this point, fingerprint vibration should be off (swipe and long presses too)

But this is a coarse answer. It would be better to locate the exact package.

Meanwhile, to revert it back:

for pkg in $( pm list packages | cut -d: -f2); do
appops set $pkg VIBRATE allow
done

If I get the specific process(es) involved, I will report back.

Re: turn off haptic feedback fingerprint sensor

Finally, this worked for me, check it out:

cmd appops set android VIBRATE ignore

What I did:

I knew it was a system package, so I disabled everybody and reenable all user apps at first:

for pkg in $( pm list packages | cut -d: -f2); do
appops set $pkg VIBRATE ignore
done

to get it back all user apps:

for pkg in $( pm list packages -3 | cut -d: -f2); do
appops set $pkg VIBRATE allow
done

List system packages only:

pm list packages -s

and how many of them:

pm list packages -s | wc -l

208

Reenable one by one untill vibration gets back:

pm list packages -s | sort
cmd appops set <system package name> VIBRATE allow

The 1st one already brings vibration back again:
package:android

So I reenabled everybody again:

for pkg in $( pm list packages | cut -d: -f2); do
appops set $pkg VIBRATE allow
done

And disabled only that package:
cmd appops set android VIBRATE ignore

Fingerprint sensor vibration is off.
Calling vibration remains usable, checked.

However, "android" package seems a bit broad, not sure if it killed another vibration behaviors.

Regards.

Since I turned mine off, it's working beautifully, even in Oreo now. Only haptic off, all other vibrations remained functional.

Did it not work for you?

it survived the OTA update? or did you need to do the steps again?
