Re: 500 - Server Error

There was a similar issue recently with MyMotoSpeak which was down for a few weeks and just recently started working again.  If you look up at the top of this page under Moto Apps, you'll find "Sunset Moto Apps."  Support for this app will stop sometime in the near future; the app has been discontinued.  The Lenovo purchase isn't finalized yet, so I doubt that has anything to do with this.  Even though the app is discontinued, I doubt they would just pull the plug without warning.  It's possible, but not terribly user friendly.

However, it should still work, I think.  If it was working a few days ago on Jelly Bean, then something has gone wrong with the server.  Everyone here should call Motorola Support or initiate a chat session to raise awareness of the issue.

By the way, if anyone in this thread is waiting for a response for Motorola here, this is the wrong place to expect an answer.  This is a peer-to-peer forum, not regularly monitored by Motorola employees.  The forum moderators are volunteers, users like the rest of us, but very knowledgeable.  However, this is not the place to get an answer directly from Motorola.  Their customer support line or online chat is the way to go.

Re: 500 - Server Error

This is one of the most unprofessional companies I have ever dealt with. I spend almost an hour wasting my time reinstalling software and troubleshooting before contacting the chat customer service rep. He was clueless, as is most of Motorola. I asked if the servers were down and he  sent me generic responses and gave me the run around. Nice communication. Way to let your customers know that an update was being done. Great job at lying to your customers. Inept customer service reps that don't speak enough English (even the supposed level 2 rep) to even grasp what I am saying, and Im well spoken. Ive owned over a dozen Motorola phones, but am now seriously considering switching my entire company to Samsung. Ill be downloading Dropbox and I may never turn back. How can you not have an answer or timeframe for your customers? Im fed up. Im also contacting Verizon so that they can understand the kind of company they partner with. Im loyal, but morally against being lied to. 4 days down and counting.

Re: 500 - Server Error

I just talked with Level 2 Support.  They are 'gathering information on that problem', but also said that the motocast servers are scheduled to go offline in December.  And they suggested I start using Google Play Music for auto picture uploads from my phone.  And thought that motocast picture uploads will not ever work again for me.  So they are really telling me they know it stopped working and will not be fixing it ever.  The problem with Google picture uploads is it goes to the cloud and not directly to my computer, eating up my Google Drive space.

Re: 500 - Server Error

I have all of the above.  The Motocast app on my Droid tells me an update is required, but the update fails saying "No internet connection detected. Please check your connection and try again." Of course I have tried a dozen or more times both on my home wireless and at work.  And the internet connection on my phone package as well.  I also get the "500 - Server Error" message when I try to login to the Motocast website.

I chatted with someone online who clearly could not read what I was typing.  I told her that I could not login to the Motocast web site and she starts telling me to reinstall the Motocast app on the computer.  Huh?  What does that have to do with logging in to the Motocast web site?  After I got a little more forceful, she opened a case for me with the tech support center and gave me a phone number to call:

Reza: Guy, in order to provide you with the best possible support for this type of question, we will need to ask you to call our call center directly. You will not have to repeat any troubleshooting steps that you have just done as I will be saving this entire conversation and all you will have to do is dial 800- 734-5870 and say "Technical Support" or press 2. When prompted, please enter your 10 digit cell phone number. You will then be directly routed to one of our Level 2 Technical Support Specialists. Our Level 2 agents are available M-F from 7am-10pm CST and on Sat. & Sun. from 9am-6pm CST.

I called that number and that person was a lot more knowledgeable in general terms, but did not have a lot of specific information.  However, she told me that she was told the server(s) should be back online within 24 hours.  She also indicated that she would call me back when they are back online and that she would sit on the line with me to make sure I can login.

I will follow up here in 24 hours or so...

Re: 500 - Server Error

See this from Google's support pages.

The place to store your pictures is in Google+.  If you upload standard size pictures, you have unlimited storage space for the photos.  If you upload full size print quality pictures, they count against your free storage space, which is 15 GB shared by GMail, Google Drive and Google+.  You can adjust your settings so that your pictures remain private.

It's not as elegant as MotoCast, but if you find yourself getting close to your limit, you can download the pictures to your computer from Google+ and delete them from there once they're safe on your computer.

I liked MotoCast when I had my Razr, but the fact is that no software program comes with a guarantee that you can use it forever.

I hope this is the case.

I haven't found anything that works as well. Especially for ITunes music access.

Would hate to see it go away.

Re: 500 - Server Error

I have the same issue. Tried to sync a new photo on my phone via Motocast, then tried to log in to the website when it did want to sync with my computer. Usually it's no problem. Tonight I have the same problem as the rest of you. Hope Motorola just doesn't pull the plug on it. I like to have my photo's backed up on my computer. Sounds like that is coming to an end though. Too bad. Would be nice if they would give us a 30-60 day notice before pulling the plug though. Hope this issue isn't the result of the plug already being pulled.....

Re: 500 - Server Error

Is possible that they already pulled the plug, but as I said in another post, the MyMotoSpeak app recently stopped working, and they fixed it. That one is also a retired app, so there's a good chance they will let you know when it's going to stop working for good.

Re: 500 - Server Error

Looks like it is all coming to an end. It is a shame that Motorola will not take care of this. They sure have a bunch of phones out there that people use with this app. Been a long time Motorola guy and suppose it is time to make a change. Why support a company or brand that won't support it's customers!
