MOTO LMY47E version of Lollipop 5.1?

2015-03-14, 3:46 AM

Hi,

So, how is this supposed to work?  Is Moto going to push this version down to their version of Nexus 6 hardware?

Google is responsible for all aspects of the Nexus 6 except warranty work for the phone. Google will have to push this update out. It will still be OTA. Hope this helps.

I guess that I need to add that Verizon will have its own version of the software. So, Moto will probably push out this version.

I do know that the Nexus 6 will never be recognized officially on the Verizon network if you don't buy it through Verizon. All the features that the Verizon Nexus 6 gets will still be there for the other Nexus 6 owners, but they won't be recognized on the network.

I am assuming this to be true, as I don't know the facts. This is just what I am assuming is the answer. It is fact that unless the phone is purchase directly through Verizon the Nexus 6 will not be recognized by the Verizon network. I was told that by CS though a chat session that I had today.

As long as I can stay away from Vz's push, I will be happy.

I flashed the "E" image earlier this evening on one of my Nexus 6s, and it seems to be the Verizon Wireless version of the software. Upon installing the software and rebooting, I noticed Verizon's visual voice mail app installed. It is not present on the "D" image.

As for joelbon's statement, just to clarify; non-Verizon devices are not able to be system activated, but must be self provisioned through a previously activated SIM card. The devices, if compatible, will work on the network but will show an NON-VZW Device on the Verizon Wireless (system) side as well as your online account.

So..... What if we were to flash the Verizon version, get it white listed (the imei number) then flash back to the Google version?

I don't think that would work as they white list the IMEI numbers in their system. Even if you flash the Verizon version that IMEI number still won't be in their system. It is all based around the numbers being white listed before they are sold. This is, at least, my understanding.

Besides, you won't gain anything getting it white listed except that the phone would be seen as a Nexus 6 instead of an unkown phone when you sign into your MyVerizon account. All the features of the phone are going to work whether your phone is white listed or not. Hope this helps.

Well, as a Verizon user that still has unlimited data, we live in constant fear that Verizon will find some little thing that will "justify" them in taking our unlimited data away. "You're using an unauthorized device on our network. No more unlimited data for YOU!"

I have been using mind since Nov with no problems and I have unlimited as well. :)

I wouldn't worry about it.

Joel is correct about the device whitelist, it is not something the end user can modify. Unlimited data will not be affected by using a NON-VZW device, only by those on edge or 2 year agreements. Image is of VZW model, for clarification. The device does not have bloatware preinstalled.
