I haven't even been using it hoping they would update the firmware and fix the radio. I believe its just a bug in the firmware. If it was hardware it would always do it the exact same way and it does not. Motorola care to chime in to what your plan is to fix this!

If what you think is true than it isn't Moto's problem. They cannot change the firmware on the Nexus. They can only take care of hardware issues. Google is responsible for all software related issues for the Nexus. Hope this helps.

Joel who are we trying to kid if it were something easy as a new Modembit would have been done. Like I said before my best guess would be something to do with the antenna. Its not inconsistent does it all the time. For my phone on Verizon purchased from Moto the OTA and 98r seem to be the best combo and well it should it was designed for Verizon.

Check this out:

As I've already mentioned, I have this problem... but I only have the issue when I'm inside my work office (old, huge, metal 6-floor building) and in my house (old house).

I have had the phone now for 4 months nothing has changed and its not gonna. In 2 more months the phone is gonna be old news and nobody will care. I'm thinking that is what they bank on when they have problems they can't fix. Its not a bad phone its just not worth the high price tag for an inferior phone.

Well someone needs to take responsibility and shouldn't it be up to Motorola to work with Google to correct the bugs? This is ridiculous all the finger pointing between the carrier, manufacturer, and software engineers. Its an issue for sure.

Re: Nexus 6 Signal issue

After I first saw this thread, I decided I would do several speed tests using various phones to see if there was indeed an actual loss of signal or simply a misrepresentation of current strength. I had this idea simply for the fact I can be on a call, show I lost service, and maintain the call. I also have the ability to make calls in low service areas that I don't typically get service on any other devices other than my '14 Moto X.

Upon testing speed from a 2 Nexus 6's (one D one E), a 2014 Moto X, a 2013 Moto X, HTC M7, Sony Xperia Z3v, Droid Turbo, Galaxy S5, Note Edge and iPhone 6+ I can firmly say that as long as the service indicator doesn't change, the service isn't degraded regardless of what the indicator reads. Consistently I connected at or above speeds to most of the devices (M7 was -2MBps or more consistently). The only noticeable change was the Nexus out preformed all but the 2014 Moto X in call performance.

I can't say this is the case for everyone, on every network, but the reason I believe Google hasn't acted to correct this misrepresentation is it's visual rather than performance impacting.

Also, just something to keep in mind, not all networks perform well inside structures. High frequency spectrum does not penetrate as well as low frequency, so those on Sprint and T-Mobile Will have their data service degraded significantly by being indoors, and impacted further by more layers (duplicate interior walls, brick or stucko, metal framework or roofing, etc).

@BlackKnight - This same issue presented itself on the LG Nexus 5 and has never been addressed after more than a year.

We all need to group together and submit BBB complaints. This will at least bring public attention to it and they will be forced to take some action.

I am inclined to believe that this is the best response / explanation here in this thread. My observations with my Nexus 6 (T-Mobile) match what you're saying.
