Nexus 6 Speaker Volume Problem, Normalized?

2015-02-15, 14:43 PM
Starting 3 weeks ago, my Nexus 6 started normalizing speaker volume by itself without any app settings whenever i'm playing any media (google play, youtube, etc...), trust me i checked every settings if normalized is turned on.

Basically at max volume setting, the actual volume is normalized and it sounds like volume is in middle setting.

Also, while playing a media, all of sudden volume comes back to max setting for few seconds and fades back to middle setting.

Is anyone else facing this issue? I've googled and noticed few users having same issue but I don't see any discussion in official Motorola forum.

I think gyro sensor has something to do with it. Because whenever I turn on auto rotate and turn it horizontal to right (power button and volume rocker to bottom) volume gets loud for few seconds and fades back to middle setting.

Mine does this. On YouTube videos and Google Play Music. It happens mostly when there's a high pitch sound. I've done some research and found people experiencing this dating back a few years. It affects Samsung and HTC devices. Not just Motorola.

Happening to me too and quite annoying. Guess what? Brought it back to Bell Mobility in Canada as I purchased it from them (worst idea ever) and they are now charging me 35$ + tax (diagnostic fee...) to get it back, saying it's a "3rd party application" issue. Phone is fully stock! Very frustrating!

Can anyone at Motorola acknowledge this and instruct us on what to do? Can I call you guys even though I purchased my Nexus 6 from Bell?

Motorola does have a warranty period for one year. They suggest to start by going to the retailer that you purchased the device from, but they do not ever say that you can't call them for support. If you want to call them then you should. They are there to help you if they can.

I would probably call/chat with them if I were you. You could also wait til the 5.1 upgrade to see if it helps you. The option is completely up to you. Hope this helps.

First, this is a peer-to-peer forum. This is not Motorola Customer Service. And the volunteer moderators work very hard to answer questions that CAN BE answered. So the "are you sleeping" commentary--totally uncalled-for.

Secondly, why assume this is Motorola's problem to fix? My Nexus  6,  which was running 6.0.1 and is now running N Beta, has never behaved the way you describe. As a matter of fact, I often turn the volume down because a particularly energetic ringtone sometimes is a bit startling.
