Nexus 6 screen repair?

2017-09-04, 20:17 PM

Hi,

I recently dropped my Motorola Nexus 6 which broke the glass screen but the touch is still functioning fine. The device is out of warranty. I read at some online forums that if the touch is working, the cost of repair isn't much and can be fixed for 10-20 bucks. Is that correct? If not, how much would be the expected cost of repair at Motorala service center or from a repair shop?

TIA!

You will have to contact motorola regarding cost.  I have never heard of a $20 repair. The entire screen is replaced as a unit.

maybe some non-authorized shops just replace the top layer of glass.  I did this on a laptop, and although it was much cheaper it took a lot longer as the glass is glued to screen.  The mall shops do this on phones and charge at least $100.

I think moto has a flat fee screen repair around $125 - but i am unsure.  But no one could do it for $10-20 in the usa. Maybe in some other country where labor is $1 an hour.

Thanks for the reply. I just spoke to the Motorola Customer service and the rep told me that they would ship out a replacement for $100 which sounds like a really good deal to me. I would look out for repair shops nearby and see how much they are asking as well and post here in case anyone needs it as a reference point in the future.

You may find someone that will do it for $20, but i would not want that service. I see the top glass alone is about $10 online. But i know everyone doesnt have $100.
