Error message displayed when Google Play launches or you have trouble finding apps

The following symptoms may be attributed to an issue with your system's cache.  Clearing the cache will often resolve the symptoms.

Symptoms:

  • Not all apps (like Google's) can be found;
  • Error messages pop up when Google Play is launched

1. Open the "Google Play" app and press the home button to return
2. Go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > ALL
3. Select the "ALL" tab > Search for "Google Play Store" and press it to open.
4. Press "Clear cache" (Do NOT press Clear Data!)

5. Press "Force stop"
6. Return to "Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > ALL
7. Press "Google Services Framework"
8. Press "Clear Data"
9. Press "Force Stop"
10. Start "Google Play Store" and it should give an error
11. Reboot. Once your tablet has restarted Google Play Store should work. Wait a minute or too if it doesn't.
12. Test the access - search for an app, for instance, Skype on the market (we ran one and had more than 400 results returned, including the original Skype and Google's apps like Maps / Streetview / Docs and others.)

Can't update my apps. Why? Internet is fine. Space is sufficient. Cache is clear. How to update?
