Configuring Headphone in Ubuntu --- Ideapad Z560

Question

I'm having an Ubuntu 10.04 installed on my laptop.

When I'm connecting the headphone I hear the sound simultaneously in the headphone's speakers and in the laptop's speakers.  When connecting a headphone the sound from the laptop's spearker should be disabled.

Does anyone know how to resolve this problem?

Answer

1. update the ALSA driver:

go to:

http://www.linuxant.com/alsa-driver/

choose the debian pakage:

http://www.linuxant.com/alsa-driver/archive/alsa-driver-linuxant-1.0.23.1/alsa-driver-linuxant_1.0.23.1_all.deb.zip

2. appending the following line to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and rebooting:
