Anyone get bluetooth working in Linux on E485/E585? (RTL8822BE 0bda:b023)

2018-09-08, 23:17 PM

I've been at this for a couple weeks now.  I cannot for the life of me get Bluetooth working on my E585.  It's a combo Wifi+BT m.2 card, Realtek RTL8822BE, device ID 0bda:b023

It's listed as certified by Ubuntu, but it flat-out will not work.  https://certification.ubuntu.com/catalog/component/usb/286/0bda%3Ab023/

I have pretty much the latest everything.  Kernel 4.18.5, latest firmware, etc.  I have a thread open on ubuntuforums.org with lots of details.

I'm about to just give up on it and order a new wifi+bt card.. but obviously I'd prefer to resolve this.

Same issue on A485 with the exact same card and Linux kernel 4.19-rc5.

Strange behavior indeed. If I boot from power on -> bluetooth does not work. But if I suspend, then wake, it does.

I tried disabling and re-enabling the radio, but it seems that it is a warm start that triggers the bluetooth to be discovered.

People using Ubuntu 18.04 with the 4.15 kernel can try my fix at https://github.com/jeremyb31/newbtfix-4.15

I just added the 0bda:b023 ID to the btusb.c source code
