Best fitting thinkpad

Dear all,

 

Im doing my research in machine learning, use a lot of processing, coding and general use in linux. Which thinkpad model adjust better to linux?

If you do not require a dedicated graphics card then I would look at the T series.  T530 or T440 if you want centered keyboard, T520 if you prefer previous keyboard layout,  T series is available with I7 processors, can have up to 3 drives (hard drive bay, optical bay, and mSata).  RAID can be enabled from the factory to allow faster read/write for drives.  The onboard graphics is more compatible/easier with Linux than the dedicated graphics (Optimua) on the W-series.  The T and W are mature product lines and used for Linux by many people (including me).

Great, thank you! I can get a T440p or T430. Besides the hardware specs (T430 have i5 3rd gen but seems better than the one un T440p), can you recommend me one of the models? I'm not clear about the diferences...I know T430 have traditional pad, but I don't know if the other model have other advantages.
