Does W500 Intel WiFi Link 5300 (AGN) talk 802.11n w/ Linksys WRT160N?

2008-11-10, 15:59 PM

The subject line pretty much says it all*. Does anyone have any concrete experience with 802.11n on a newer Thinkpad with the "Intel WiFi Link 5300 (AGN)" card talking to a Linksys WRT160N? With Fedora?

Hello Joe,

I"m running into a simuliar problem but a bit more generic. I'm using SuSE11.1RC5 which should support this hardware in the kernel. I can see all the accesspoints around me but cannot connect. Even when I set mine to open I don't get any results. I undestand that I'm running a prelease version, but one would think if it can hear, it should be able to connect.

The hardware works fine under Windowz. (W500 with the Intel Link 5300 (AGN))

Same problem here — T500 with Intel 5300 AGN, Debian unstable, kernel (self-compiled), ZyXEL wireless router. The access point is visible, but IP configuration with DHCP fails (timeout). Manual IP configuration does not help either, pinging the router's IP address gives "host unreachable". No problems under Windows XP. Also, under Windows, the wireless LED on the laptop is constantly lit and blinks in case of TX/RX activity, whereas under Linux it blinks constantly at regular intervals.
