To the best of my knowledge and belief, it still doesn't.

Yes.

If you don't want to compile the drivers yourself you will need to supply yourself with a prerlease distribution since the support landed in the fairly recent 2.6.26.

It works out of the box with Intrepid.

@francxk

The iwlagn kernel module supports the intel 5000 series wifi adapters. Get a 2.6.27 kernel and compile it with iwlagn support to get the driver.

The best way to get the linux kernel source, compile it, and install it, depends on the distro.

The development site

http://www.intellinuxwireless.org/

says that these are now available and gives details. I haven't tested them (that is to come)

Same here, works flawlessly and out of the box with Fedora 11. Also worked with Fedora 10 as far as I remember.

to those for which the 5300 card works, try it with a linksys router if you have one around. I had trouble to connect to a brand new one; all combinations of 64bit, 32bit, kernel 2.6.27, 2.6.28, 2.6.29 fedora 11lice CD, ubuntu 9.04 live cd, opensuse 11.1, B, G, N, encrypted, unencrypted
