Re:Fedora on X1 Extreme Gen 3, WWAN Fibocom L860-GL 4G/LTE-Advanced Cat 16 not working

I'd missed some of the above questions :(

For the L860 - no date yet but it's under active testing and they're still ironing out some issues. The driver is also being upstreamed but isn't accepted so initial support (once we finish testing) will involve jumping through some hoops. I can't confirm yet which platforms it's going to be available on I'm afraid - there are certification/fcc rules that have to be followed.

For the L850 - it works on Linux in USB mode, but that's not the default mode on our platforms and there are locks in place to prevent use in non-certified ways. People have found ways around that - but it's not recommended or supported,

When the L860 will be available for the X1. Is it also going to be available for other thinkpad laptops? I have a T14 with L860-GL, would love to be able to use the wwan card in ubuntu.

I want to ask @MarkRHPearson what's the official channel to track? Where I would find official info when driver is released. I guess this topic could be easily forgotten.

HI @Puszy

Not sure there is an official channel I'm afraid. We haven't released it yet for any platforms - I'm not sure myself what the planned release date is either :( (though honestly this wwan exercise has taken so long I'm not sure I'd want to give dates at this point anyway with any confidence)

The team in Japan working on this are on holiday this week - I'll check with them when they're back and see if we're getting closer to having something for release.

This is so frustraiting that I even think of switching to Windows + WSL2 after many years of constant development @Linux. Other issue is GTX 1650 Ti drivers problem. First time I had so much problems with Linux + hardware. It reminds me of 2005 and printer installation.

Yes, it is kind of frustrating. Graphics is not fully supported (e.g. nvidia vs. wayland, or nvidia drivers vs. thunderbold dock), WWAN is not supported.... Why does marketing say, Lenovo is Linux compatible, then?

However, regarding WWAN: Is there any progress here? Any ETA so far? @MarkRHPearson
