Hidden hard disk

2018-05-01, 11:44 AM

Hi,

I have tried to install Ubuntu, but the only detected memory is the booteable usb. Gparted doesn't detect the internal hard disk of my lenovo Yoga Book 520.

Does anyone know why the disk isn't detected?

There could be a few reasons. First, update the BIOS to the latest version.

NOTE: I AM ASSUMING THAT YOU WANT TO DESTROY YOUR WINDOWS 10. THE BELOW STEPS WILL MAKE YOUR WINDOWS 10 INOPERABLE AND CAUSE YOU TO LOSE EVERYTHING IN WINDOWS 10.

I think you need to start with disabling fast boot and secure boot, and set your boot mode and boot priority to legacy mode. You also may have issues with GPT and some distros so you may need to make the disk MBR. At this point you should be able to re-install Windows 10 (and then install Ubuntu if you want to dual boot) or go straight to installing Ubuntu.

Good Luck!

Hi,

I have the last update of the BIOS, also I was able to disabling fast boot and secure boot , but as you can see in the image, I'm not able to select the legacy mode.

Thanks for your help.

You may have to set boot priority before you can select boot mode (or the other way around). Try a few different settings to see if you can get it to appear.
