How to control second fan on x61 (they built in because of the hot palm rest issue)?

hi there
i'm trying to get my x61 more quiet and i've been quite happy with my first results. running ubuntu 7.10 on a 76754KU using Thinkpad Fan Control (http://www.gambitchess.org/moin.py/ThinkPad_Fan_Control) i don't need the cpu fan when doing simple tasks on my thinkpad. but the second fan doesn't show up in /proc/acpi/ibm. there's only one "fan" file you can control.
is there any possibility to control the second fan? any suggestions?

(i'd even give a try to windows)

thanks in advance!

See the ThinkWiki if you haven't already looked there, it seems it's still unknown how to access the interface for the X61/X61s WWAN fan.
