Ideapad P400 - fan always at full speed

2021-06-05, 13:52 PM

Dear all,

I have an Ideapad P400 touch. Since from SuSE Leap 15.1 (and now with leap15.3), the fan is always running at full speed, no matter what the cpu load is. I should add that the same happens under windows 10. Besides that, I must say that I lost normal screen brightness control (which stood at half brightness), but I could correct this under (only) linux at passing  “acpi_backlight=video" for grub. I have run Lenovo LSB under windows10 which said that it could not detect the fan (but one does hear it spinning at full speed).  I have also updated the bios (insydeH20 rev 3.7) and I have also tried the driver at  https://support.lenovo.com/tr/en/downloads/ds008774 even at windows7/8 compatibility without success.

I could also add that under linux the command "sensors" does not output any fan.

It there a way to recover these controls, specially the fan speed according to cpu load at linux?

Thank you.
