Re: Install linux in Lenovo Yoga 720?

2017-05-08, 5:33 AM

I can't rmember which kernel version of manjaro was at that time delivered with the gnome version. Currently I am runnning Arch with  4.10.13-1-ARCH. I can remeber that everything was running out of the box, except the finger print reader which seems to never willing to be supported.

cat /proc/bus/input/devices gives me for the touch pad:
Name=MSFT0001:01 06CB:7F8F Touchpad
It seems to be connected over the i2c bus. Do you have the same output?
Check if it is listed in the output of :
xinput --list
The hid_multitouch kernel module seems to enable the functionality.
Are you running X11 or Mir?
What do you mean by echoing the id into sys/module? Can you give me the exact command that you used?
Just to be sure, what happens if you press the fn+f6 key? Is it working then?

Could you please help me ? I also use arch linux. I also managed to install Antergos and Manjaro by using the steps you described, but the touchpad doesn't work!!  I am trying everything to make it work, but it just doesn't, I have no idea how you managed to get it out of the box ! Could you please help me ? I also use the same lenovo yoga 720 15".

Also the active pen doesn't seem to work, but is isn't as important as the trackpad !!

Without the track pad I cant do anything !

Please help me ! You are the only one that has linux on his lenovo yoga 720 !!

to EizanPrime:
I bought the active pen, but gave it back as the right click button didn't work.

Can you post the output of following commands:
cat /proc/bus/input/devices

xinput --list
Are you running X11 or Mir?

to mealejan

Thank you very much for the anwser !!

I am running X11, typically on kde arch, but I also tried on wayland gnome and manjaro...

xinput --list outputs nothing except for the wacom touch interface and the virtual pointer.

As for cat /proc/bus/input/devices, it didn't output any device named touchpad, only "ideapad extra buttons" and other devices that are not the touchpad...

At the moment I just wiped out everything and reinstalled windows, however I will post the detailed outputs very soon !!

Re: Install linux in Lenovo Yoga 720?

Have you installed on arch the packages:
extra/libwacom 0.24-1
extra/xf86-input-wacom 0.34.2-1
It seems that your touchpad is completly missing.
My xinput --list output is following:
Virtual core pointer id=2 [master pointer (3)]
⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ MSFT0001:01 06CB:7F8F Touchpad id=10 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ Wacom HID 50EE Finger touch id=12 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ Wacom HID 50EE Pen stylus id=11 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ Wacom HID 50EE Pen eraser id=15 [slave pointer (2)]
⎣ Virtual core keyboard id=3 [master keyboard (2)]
↳ Virtual core XTEST keyboard id=5 [slave keyboard (3)]
↳ Power Button id=6 [slave keyboard (3)]
↳ Video Bus id=7 [slave keyboard (3)]
↳ Power Button id=8 [slave keyboard (3)]
↳ EasyCamera id=9 [slave keyboard (3)]
↳ Ideapad extra buttons id=13 [slave keyboard (3)]
↳ AT Translated Set 2 keyboard id=14 [slave keyboard (3)]

Do you have the kernelmodule i2c_hid loaded?
You can check it with lsmod | grep "hid"
(I have the 13" version of the laptop)

Re: Install linux in Lenovo Yoga 720?

Thank you very much for the reply !

Indeed, the touchpad is missing, even though I have all the required kernel modules, I also tried to load other kernel modules such as multitouch ect.. But with no change...

Installing the wacom driver package breaks some of my touch functionalities, while still not allowing me to use the pen (which I can't manage to install on windows either)

I use the 15 inch version, but it is hard to believe that so many problems could come from just a difference of 2 inches

I think your problem with the pen is, that it is recognized as keyboard instead of a pointer. I have no clue how to help you there.

For the clickpad/touchpad functionality try following:

Have you read following article?
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Touchpad_Synaptics

Can you look up what touchpad you are using in windows? Just to know what hardware you have.
Try to uninstall/unload all touch related modules and load the specific one for the touchpad (not touchscreen).

Yes I tried the troubleshooting part of the archwiki, but with so far no success...

Unfortunetly I'm not very good with windows, I don't know what the xinput --list equivalent would be.

I just managed to get this: PNP Device ID HID\ELAN0651&COL01\5&27263A32&0&0000

Well, at least now I know its from elantech...
