Re: Install linux in Lenovo Yoga 720?

2017-07-31, 5:55 AM

What i did.

1. Grab kernel source ( 4.10.0 )

2. Made the changes in the file from the Link above

3. Recompile with the default kernel options from my actual kernel

4. Reboot and touchpad works like a charm also 2 finger scroll.

Maybe u need to add the suggested patch from user "kargronick" on page 3 in this thread. I tried this patch before i test the second one so maybe i made both changes in my source folder.

Sorry for my english

Hello,

<yeah i see the problem. in answer #13 the line is wrong. Scroll down to answer #33 there is the right line for the second patch. Hope now everything works. The reason why it works for me, i copy the right line and change the adress. So i made it right because i made a copy mistake that correct the copy mistake from the author ;)

Hello :-)

After having read this thread, I continue asking myself:

Does Ubuntu 16 or 17 now work on Yoga 720-13 - or not?

With 512 SSD?

Thank you for clarify and recommendations :-) chris

Thanx dasRicardo for your confirmation :-)

I am pretty much afraid of messing around in the bios settings.
But as I see, there is no way without changing to AHCI ...
Hope it'll work :-) chris

Hello, Ive  installed Ubuntu 17.04, add the line into file intel-lpss-pci.c, download the kernel 4.10.0, but i cant recompile it. Frankly, i dont even know how to do it( instruction, which gave Ubuntu help website, isnt understandable for me). Could you write more detailed instrution, how you did it.

Re: Install linux in Lenovo Yoga 720?

1. Get source: apt source  ....`uname -r`....
2. copy /boot/config*`uname -r`* .config in the source root dir.

3. vi .config and replace the versions of the kernel to match the "uname -r" version you have.  <--- This was unexpected but required on Ubuntu systems.
3. update the drivers/mfd/*lpss*pci.c file

4. make module drivers/mfd/*lpss*pci.c file

5. sudo insmod drivers/mfd/*lpss*pci.ko  (mouse should then work)

6. copy this ko into the /lib/**/drivers/mfd/*.ko  on reboot it should continue to work.

Just wanted to update the thread here. I've Installed Fedora 26 which ships with the following kernel: 4.12.13-300 and everything works like a CHARM. Just follow the directions posted on page 3 and install Fedora 26.
