Lenovo 100s Chromebook VPN set-up not working: I need PPTP but can only choose Open or L2TP

2020-08-24, 2:45 AM

To log in to my university's website-editing CMS, I need to be logged in to their off-campus VPN. Their instructions for using their VPN with a Chromebook include going to the Google Play Store, which my Chromebook does not have (I have no play store or access to any apps, so I guess I can only access browsers).

So I figured out I can go to my Settings and choose "Add VPN" under "Connections" (I don't have an "Add private network" option; only "Add VPN"). However, my school uses a PPTP VPN, and my settings only offer OPEN VPN and two different L2TP VPN options under the "Provider" section. So there seems to be no way for me to connect to their VPN.

Is there any way around this, or do I need a whole different laptop to log in to my university's VPN and edit their website for them? :(
