there's a new BIOS update out today (1.10). In changelog it mentioned a fix about Fn keys not working.

sad to say it doesn't work. that was probably not for Linux users.

Thanks so much for the fix, but I have recently encountered an issue with the script. When I shutdown my system it runs the script and then hangs on "waiting for user UUID 1000" I disabled the script and it shutdown normally.

Do you by some chance know how to disable the cronie script at shutdown? Thanks!

Lenovo will not fix this with a high probability, since this is not a BIOS error.
I wrote instructions on how to fix it all.

If anything, ask questions.

I can confirm that this script works with most keys, however it seems that the brightness keys are shown as random serial keys (found in xev, see log attached) and the message, pick up, and hang up buttons (F9, F10 and F11 respectively) do not even register in xev. The lid switch also works as expected. Thanks for the fix.

Distribution: Arch Linux
Kernel: 5.10.10-arch1-1

*Note: If you are running this on Arch make sure you have acpica installed and change the line "update-grub" to "grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg"

Worked for me on Linux Mint 20.1 Cinnamon, thanks.

Just a reminder:

1) After downloading the script, I need to run 'sed -i -e 's/\r$//' ./thinkpad-e15-gen2-firmware-fix.sh' to strip out ^M in the file

2) You need to run the following commands to install acpidump

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install acpidump

Thanks buddy . I had trouble running the script . The line you gave helped me to make it work .

I am in ubuntu 20.04 and I installed acpidump and changed the script to #!/bin/bash and everything worked .

Still missing the notification and the call keys .But I dont use them much . So I can adjust till things get fixed.

Hi, any idea how to get it running on opensuse?

I have installed acpica and changed the line to re-generate grub config accordingly (it's in the same format as on fedora).

The script doesn't error out, yet it doesn't work.

I've also tried the method involving sed as mentioned on github, but that also didn't work.

Thanks

Edit:

To get it working on opensuse, you need to change these 2 lines

. \${libdir}/grub/grub-mkconfig_lib

update-grub

To:

. \${libdir}/grub2/grub-mkconfig_lib

grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/efi/EFI/opensuse/grub.cfg

What do you mean is NOT a BIOS error?

OFC this is a BIOS problem, your script proves exactly that, a broken DSDT.
