Re: Linux Only BIOS Update For Yoga 910?

The general guide gets you far, but you will have to blacklist certain modules. I relied on http://www.chaos-reins.com/2016-11-14-arch-yoga-910/ to get mine installed properly. IIRC I didn't need quite as much customization; I definitely have `ideapad_laptop` module blacklisted and I also needed kernel command line options `i915.enable_rc6=0 pci=noaer`. Careful! Without the `i915` specified my display went crazy and the screen stayed messed up for like 20 minutes (even after reboot). I got really scared and thought I was going to have to bring the thing back in. Just make sure you have that option set, and if you do see the screen glitching out, shut off immediately.

That sounds really scary but I promise it wasn't that bad haha.

Also, the PC speaker with my arch OS is so obnoxious (the one that dings you when you press a button wrong, etc.), so I recently blacklisted pcspkr as well.

Re: Linux Only BIOS Update For Yoga 910?

Can anyone replicate this issue that I am having. I have installed Ubuntu GNOME on my 910. I have updated the Kernel to 4.10.8-041008-lowlatency. When I launch Android Studio I get a hard crash of Ubuntu and my laptop shuts down. I have tried installing the Oracle version of Java as I heard this may solve the problem. This was not occurring in Windows.

Thanks in advance.

If you once forgot to change that boot option keep the mouse pointer moving and start a video asap or a longer download as while this is running, the screen glitches are reduced to a minimum.

Thank God there is none.

I will work with forum admin to see in which way we can share the special bios to customers who use Linux as OS.

We are still waiting for a newer bios to make the function keys work correctly...

Still waiting.... PLEASE choose to act.

Is there a reason why this isn't happening? Too difficult on this particular setup? It worked on 900, not on 920.

I wasn't prepared for this not being possible, I use the F1-F12 alot for development.

In the meantime I think they are simply NOT ABLE to get this done.

I mean, how hard can it be to give out the proper file to get loaded by FreeDOS as it wasfor about twenty years?

How difficult is it to tell someone what their Windows program does to change this bit or byte to make the F-keys work correctly?

Lenovo, have you all got your education on Trump University?

Thank God there is none.
