Hello,

Unlike windows where there is just one version, linux has hundreds of distributions.  Not all distributions work on any individual pc.  Then also many linux distributions have LOTS of choices for .iso images.  Ubuntu might have 50(??) different ones available.  Not all of those will boot on any individual pc.  :(

Try using fedora WORKSTATION liveUSB to test functionality.  getfedora.org  Use the special software to download and build your bootable usb.  Then, simply shut your computer down using windows power menu SHUTDOWN command, then while powered off insert the liveUSB media.  and lastly enter boot order screen and start it up.

Use the LIVE DESKTOP session to test functions BEFORE installing to your system.  If something does not work from liveUSB it won't work after installing either.

Good Luck,

Usedtoberich

I just bought a V15 G2 ALC Ryzen5700U the latest Ubuntu 21.04 works great OOTB **but** after installing and the the first successful reboot, I can no no longer boot, stuck in boot loop, and form a live USB session, the SSD no longer detected. I kept EFI secureboot enabled and wiped Windows completely following standard options in the Ubuntu installer (OK used extra software repo and ZFS)... Tried they usual disable secure boot options in BIOS to no avail.. I will open a new thread once gathered more details.
