Re: Linux on the ThinkPad X1 Yoga (3rd Gen)

No...

One guy seems to had luck by swapping the wwan card with another one that only offer an USB interface. Others try but the new card is blacklisted in bios

And wwan option is >100€, so buying another card is not an acceptable option for me

No! WiFi works fine! I'm talking about WWAN, not WLAN. WWAN doesn't work, you can't connect to a cellular network. But no issue with WiFi.

What are the chances to get this working withing the next months? Like, less than half a year?

Re: Linux on the ThinkPad X1 Yoga (3rd Gen)

Hi,

did somebody test, if the fan is working in the most recent BIOS ? I had to downgrade to 1.12 to have a working fan.....

Re: Linux on the ThinkPad X1 Yoga (3rd Gen)

I'm using 1.27. No fan (so, very slow CPU whenever it matters), and still no suspend. But, touchpad works when waking from suspend (so, that's a step forward)

Re: Linux on the ThinkPad X1 Yoga (3rd Gen)

Thanks for the info.
IMHO will stick to 1.12.
BTW I'm using hibernate on ubuntu 18.10 which is working fine. But it look like that lenovo gives a F#+! about linux users !

Re: Linux on the ThinkPad X1 Yoga (3rd Gen)

FYI, got fan working, following (approximately) these steps: https://askubuntu.com/questions/22108/how-to-control-fan-speed/22124

Fan spools up when I run something intense, system responsiveness is way better. CPU seems to never go beyond about 2.8GHz, but not sure why that is. Before, it would sort-of lock up when doing heavy things (compiling code, for example), and occasionally the CPU would go into some extreme safety mode, with a max clock of 400MHz (fixable only by reboot). To check your CPU clock, FYI, type

  lscpu | grep 'MHz'

For continuous monitoring, try:

  watch -n1 "lscpu | grep 'MHz' | awk '{print $1}'"

Certainly takes me back to the "good old days" of linux, where you have to hand-craft the bloody thing to work on your shiny new laptop. It used to be WiFi, though /s
