I have a problem with a new P70 ThinkPad running Linux Ubuntu. If the screen is switched off after inactivity, I can't get it back on again: it stays on a black screen, and I have to reboot by holding the power key down. This is a power-saving screen shutdown, not a lock screen.
Pressing everything, I managed to get it to minimum brightness once, but I can't remember what combination of keys got me there and I've not managed it again! In that state, I could faintly see open windows, and the laptop responded to some Fn keys, e.g. Fn-F3 for volume, but didn't respond to Fn-F6 for brightness.
I've made it never power-save the screen for now, but any advice on a proper fix would be much appreciated!
