Re:T14 AMD battery drain in standby (Linux)

Hi @cysys

My understanding is they're wrapping up test for the BIOS update (they have to make sure they don't break anything for Windows too - so it's somewhat lengthy process). I'm hoping it's on LVFS soon - I know there's a lot of fixes tied up with this one....

I did a test to my own T14 Gen 1 (Ryzen 5). In 15 hours suspended to RAM the battery lost 20.3% (79.8 to 59.5). 1.35% discharge per hour. Power option set to Linux and secure boot disabled in UEFI, lid of the laptop closed.

Have you disabled "USB always on" feature in BIOS?

What BIOS version are you using?

This has been already reported. We are all waiting for new BIOS release in order to solve this and other issues.

As I understand from this thread the power down issue will be solved (hopefully) by the next firmware release (1.31 ?).

Will the new firmware address the suspend to RAM issue as well? I could;t verify it by what I read.

Disable it, downgrade to 1.29 and wait for 1.31, which hopefully solves  the problem

Does downgrading messes with nvram? Will the system be able to boot using grub?

Every firmware upgrade/downgrade induses some risk.

My laptop was able to boot with grub after downgrade without any problem.

Some other users in this thread also reported success in downgrading and reduced battery drain after it.
