Looking at the changelog r1buj63w.txt it seems that they fixed S5, but not S3 issue?

In the message 5300316 on page 18 @MarkRHPearson says that the fix was found for S5 (which was not even an issue until 1.30, this is just a regression) and some "separate" work is ongoing for S3.

By observing how the discussion has been diverted from the main issue of this thread — battery drain in S3 — I'm willing to bet the issue will never get fixed.

All those who bought those shiny premium laptops (me included) are essentially stuck with overpriced underpowered desktops.

But let's hope I'm wrong and wait for the first testing results.

You may be right. I did Google search because I did not know what S3 referred to. The results were not promising as they were filled with forums from everywhere dealing with the same issue using Linux on a bunch of different machines from different manufacturers for many years. Apparently this is something Linux has a hard time getting right. I have been waiting to see if this update was going to fix the issue before I opened the T14 sitting on my table. Now I have to decide if I want to return it, or just power the thing down every time I walk away from it. Frustrating indeed.

With all due respect, this is not true and sits roughly between scapegoating and blaming the victim.

Yes, this is not true, you are right.

And this issue exists on Windows & Linux, is not really a Linux OR Windows problem,

this one is pure firmware issue(s).

This issue will be fixed, again is affecting _ALL_ supported OSes by Lenovo, this is not a Linux only problem.

@ikovnatsky I've also had setup grafana/prom/node-exporter

do you know a way to query battery drain between the latest metric before sleep and the first metric on laptop resume in PromQL? or you just take a look hovering the mouse?

btw, I'm started from this dashboard https://grafana.com/grafana/dashboards/12542

I assure you it was not intentional. Simple ignorance on my part, no attempt at shifting blame, just a poor guess. Sorry.

Hi @MarkRHPearson, do you have any updates on the S3 power drain issue?

"The update is for T14, not T14s" – Thanks, I would have overlooked that, too. Is there a separate threat for the T14s standby issues or will news on that be covered here, too? Is there any ETA? (Oops, did I ask for ETA)? ;)
