It went from 57% to 42%.

I' like to test @osnix fixes next.

if you divide by 9h, you obtain ~0.8W/h which many people report (after power-drain/bios battery off trick)

Great! would be interesting to see what other t14(s) owners get

Considering where we started this sounds very good. I hope we figure and get the T series <= 0.4 W/h too.

Unfortunately, I don't own one so I cannot do any local testing regarding T series.

Yes, this is 0.835555 W/h.

So here is a more precise estimate of the power consumption after 5h of s0ix sleep with kernel 5.13.1 and @osnix  patches on a t14s measured with tlp-stat -b :

Tue Jul 13 12:10:13 AM CEST 2021
/sys/class/power_supply/BAT0/energy_now                     =  53760 [mWh]

Tue Jul 13 05:10:56 AM CEST 2021
/sys/class/power_supply/BAT0/energy_now                     =  51490 [mWh]

this amounts to 0.454 W/h which is a further improvement to the ~0.6 W/h which i had previously using only the power drain trick (https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Other-Linux-Discussions/T14-AMD-battery-drain-in-standby-Linux/m-p/5037674?page=52#5371858)

Just an observation after the emergency disconnect or BIOS disconnect battery thing.

T14's' seems to be around ~0.6 - ~0.7 W/h in S3

T14 seems to be around ~0.8 - ~ 0.9 W/h in S3

P14s is a bit all over the place but sits somewhere between the two ~0.65 - ~0.95 W/h

Now in S0ix P14s ( results from 3 laptops ) seems to do it better:

P14s ~0.32 - ~0.37 W/h ( the 4th laptop is around 0.5 but the BAT seems to be toast already )

T 14  ~0.5 - ~0.6 W/h

T14s <0.5 W/h

another tip by @osnix : disable all power management daemons (for his kernel patch and s0ix sleep - for normal kernel and s3 sleep they help!)

disabling the tlp power management brought me another small gain:

Tue Jul 13 11:57:35 AM CEST 2021
/sys/class/power_supply/BAT0/energy_now                     =  53050 [mWh]

Tue Jul 13 03:36:51 PM CEST 2021
/sys/class/power_supply/BAT0/energy_now                     =  51510 [mWh]

thats 0.421 W/h

quite nice considering it once was 1.8W/h

built 5.13.1 kernel with osnix patches (thanks!)

thinkpad t14, 32G, added 16G aftermarket.

acpi_osi=linux

usb always on = off

all devices enabled

s3

51.480 Wh 16:44
49.830 Wh 18:16

(51.48-49.83)/1.5=1.1 Wh ( i understand that is not so god, but let me start with that :-D )

but i'm using upowerd/tlp (tlp to switch governor to performance).

overnight:

49.490 Wh 21:30

41.280 Wh 7:30

(49.49-41.28)/10=0.821 Wh

Re:T14 AMD battery drain in standby (Linux)

Hello,

I just checked and I have a 1 year battery warranty, expiring in a few days :

The battery included within this product is entitled to a 1 year CRU/Depot/Carry-in warranty. Please note that this may differ from the warranty of the base product itself.

I'm a bit worried because I'm under the impression that my battery might degrade quickly due to all our issues.

And I'm not sure the laptop's global warranty could help (2 years left for that one).

Should I extend the battery warranty for 3 more years ?

Obtain a single battery replacement for any covered battery that fails to meet minimum performance standards.

It's a bit annoying because I don't want to give more money to Lenovo given that for now I hardly use the laptop without its charger...

And I suppose a complete refund would be impossible ?

I wonder at this point, what if its more of an AMD renoir issue than a thinkpad issue?
