We really don;t care what AMD is doing. We bought the laptop from Lenovo.  If Lenovo can;t address the issue, they must recall every single unit.

About S5 power drain? Anyone found if that is fixed in new BIOS release?

No, I didn't use any other SW, even disabled KDE stuff.

Didn't run any other optimization.

I have runs with some power saving options

for modules but only marginal better results.

About S5 no idea didn't even test S3.

Somehow I don't receive notifications

from this thread anymore ;)

Very interesting.

ummmmmm...... Are we being monitored by big brother at Lenovo??

If so... you better spend your time fixing what you did wrong about this... We paid for a laptop.... not for a desktop with a battery inside.

And yes.. your support on this,... is **bleep**

@osnix  Even if you are now a "persona non grata" at FW lenovo... don't worry.... Your work and dedication will always be valued and remembered by "US"...

Keep up the good work

from my perspective, since lenovo didn’t fix a thing, just reverted what they’ve broken in 1.30.

(they fixed other issues, that’s 100%, but not power off or sleep drain, for me)

i feel kind of a sad we didn’t start this thread on reddit or some other community, where we could potentially get more voices.

if r/lenovo could give us a pinned thread maybe, that would be cool. do you think we need that? or do we need to move to other forums without their guidance? unless we still believe there are gonna fix it, of course.

Yes, they did but also they fixed one issue and introduced another with the fix :).

Asking AMD engineers on LKML/lore, about AMD's position on S0ix ( and Lenovo's broken BIOSes regarding their platforms )

should be a good start to make some noise :)

I don't think so. Windoze is a broken as Linux, usually,  Windoze is the prioritized OS and receivers fixes quickly.

Anyway, to be fair ( and give you guys some numbers ) I quickly tested S3 on BIOS 1.34 too.

Short suspends remain weird no matter what workarounds, worst run 1.54W/h, still all over the place.

Longer run >2h looks better, 0.6166W/h  to 0.763W/h. To come to these numbers I disable TPM chip

and disconnected the battery in BIOS.

9h, with some optimizations:

```
crazy@ThinkPad-P14s:~/suspend$ ./bat_test -s
So 18. Jul 03:41:35 CEST 2021
POWER_SUPPLY_NAME=BAT0
POWER_SUPPLY_TYPE=Battery
POWER_SUPPLY_STATUS=Full
POWER_SUPPLY_PRESENT=1
POWER_SUPPLY_TECHNOLOGY=Li-poly
POWER_SUPPLY_CYCLE_COUNT=19
POWER_SUPPLY_VOLTAGE_MIN_DESIGN=11550000
POWER_SUPPLY_VOLTAGE_NOW=13098000
POWER_SUPPLY_POWER_NOW=0
POWER_SUPPLY_ENERGY_FULL_DESIGN=50500000
POWER_SUPPLY_ENERGY_FULL=51480000
POWER_SUPPLY_ENERGY_NOW=51480000
POWER_SUPPLY_CAPACITY=100
POWER_SUPPLY_CAPACITY_LEVEL=Full
POWER_SUPPLY_MODEL_NAME=5B10W139
POWER_SUPPLY_MANUFACTURER=LGC
POWER_SUPPLY_SERIAL_NUMBER= 8689
crazy@ThinkPad-P14s:~/suspend$ ./bat_test -r
So 18. Jul 12:49:19 CEST 2021
POWER_SUPPLY_NAME=BAT0
POWER_SUPPLY_TYPE=Battery
POWER_SUPPLY_STATUS=Discharging
POWER_SUPPLY_PRESENT=1
POWER_SUPPLY_TECHNOLOGY=Li-poly
POWER_SUPPLY_CYCLE_COUNT=19
POWER_SUPPLY_VOLTAGE_MIN_DESIGN=11550000
POWER_SUPPLY_VOLTAGE_NOW=12526000
POWER_SUPPLY_POWER_NOW=2217000
POWER_SUPPLY_ENERGY_FULL_DESIGN=50500000
POWER_SUPPLY_ENERGY_FULL=51480000
POWER_SUPPLY_ENERGY_NOW=45930000
POWER_SUPPLY_CAPACITY=89
POWER_SUPPLY_CAPACITY_LEVEL=Normal
POWER_SUPPLY_MODEL_NAME=5B10W139
POWER_SUPPLY_MANUFACTURER=LGC
POWER_SUPPLY_SERIAL_NUMBER= 8689
```

That is 0.616666W/h.

While that is an improvement, it is still very bad,

we have now real S0ix numbers to compare.

In fact with S0ix, in the early days, I get half that,

and basically, S3 numbers should be better than S0ix.

I have that ACER with an already bad battery ( 80% )  and that

box has a power-hungry R7 3750H and a dGPU.

In 6 days & 5h, S3 sleep, 33% battery gone, so I could

still, let the box for 2 weeks in S3...

As always, I can only speak for the machine I'm testing with,

on the T series, the numbers may be different.
