FYI:

 - the patches have been merged into the Fedora 5.13 kernel which will be releasing soon (https://gitlab.com/cki-project/kernel-ark/-/merge_requests/1196)

 - Canonical are backporting the patches into their OEM 5.13 stream and I believe also their OEM 5.10 stream. I'm not sure exactly when that will be ready to be picked up - but hopefully not in the not too distant future.

I need to test these myself, haven't had time yet, but looks promising. Note - S0ix is *not officially supported* on the Renoir platforms; but as we're all seeing it works well and I think we'll get help from AMD if there are issues.

The FW team are still looking at this issue and what we can do to improve S3 - I have nothing interesting or useful to share there, but they're still talking to me. I have a couple of other things simmering but nothing useful to share at this point.

It is already released (5.13.4), but I had to add kernel params to the grub line to fix pretty long wake-up time (thx @ osnix  !)

Now I'm getting about the same power drain in S0ix as before on S3: ~0.8W, which is still to high

Do you mean a kernel from kernel.org? In this case, the patches you are looking for are not in.

You have to check the kernel config and adjust it.

These need be set this way:

CONFIG_AMD_PMC=y

CONFIG_I2C_HID_ACPI=m

Disable any CONFIG_HSA_AMD_*

No. I have not started with kernel building yet, so using just the default Fedora 34 build of 5.13.4 as for now.

But are the patches already been backported to this Fedora kernel? if so.. you don't need to compile the kernel. That is the all point of being backported.

The only thing we need to do is to pass the boot parameters to grub. In  my case (pop!:os) to systemd

But it seems, that these options are not set:

If this is the case... I really don't see how they are backported. The whole idea is this to be default! just my 2 cents...

@osnix Could you please move the S0ix troubleshooting to a separate thread. It's certainly valuable but there should be a choice whether one follows that or not. This thread can remain focused on achieving sane S3 drain.

I have a small question, I wonder what if this drain is due to something else in the motherboard not turning off completely? because I have also noticed  a slight drain (around 1-2% after 8-10 hours) in complete poweroff as well
