T470 20HE EM7430 LTE modem not detected

I'm trying to have Sierra EM7430 LTE modem working on T470 but I'm simply not able to get OS detect anything modem related

Here it's claimed that there is some support https://support.lenovo.com/fi/en/solutions/acc100352

Hardware Compatibility

The Sierra Wireless EM7430 Embedded Module is supported on the following Lenovo systems:
Systems
ThinkPad P51s, X1 Yoga, L470, T470, X1 Carbon, T470s, T470p, X270

And this should not be that different from EM7455 which people have working

Currently running ubuntu 16.04 - 4.10.0-40-generic

I would expect to see something in lsusb but nope

Logically installed ModemManager is not able to detect anything either

I don't get any "1802 unauthorized network card" error on boot up. I've also tried what was suggested on forums for installation procedure. Mainly:

OK

Firstly, check out the BIOS Setup:
Security menu -> I/O Ports Access.
"Wireless WAN" device should be enabled.

How did you insert the wwan card? I mean mandatory disabling internal battery in the BIOS Setup and disconnection the AC charger. I'm afraid you didn't disable that battery.

In this case perform the BIOS/EC reset:
- enter the BIOS Setup, Config menu, Power submenu, Disable Built-in battery - Enter
- laptop will power off
- unplug AC charger
- press and hold the power button for 20...30 seconds

Plug in the AC charger, power on laptop, enter the BIOS Setup, load default settings, save them. If you had your own, specific BIOS settings, apply them.

Boot laptop, check out the wwan card state. It should be recognized by system.

Does anyone have ideas how to get this LTE modem detected by T470 laptop? Even troubleshoot ideas? After a day of research I'm a bit out of things to try and didn't find people really doing the same

I guess this would be too easy if modem was somehow visible to OS Smiley Sad
