T470s - BIOS update for setting RAID mode for missing hard drive on linux install

Hi,

The bios can see the hard drive but not the linux installer.

I heard a lot about the BIOS sata mode.  Unfortuneatly there is no option to change it from RAID to AHCI or disabled. Will there be a BIOS update for this in the near future?

Or is there another work around?

Re: T470s - BIOS update for setting RAID mode for missing hard drive on linux install

ThinkPad T470s does not have a RAID-only mode.  There is a single M.2 80mm slot for SSD.  If SATA drive is installed, the slot operates in SATA/AHCI mode.  If NVMe drive is installed, the slot operates in PCIe mode.  There is no RAID mode.

Questions:

1.  What linux installer?  Where can I get it?  I'll try it here.

2.  What drive is in the system?  You can get this info from the F12 boot menu.  If possible, please take picture of this screen and post it.

Thats right. I see the disk with lsblk.

I thought the disk should appear as /dev/sdx and not as /dev/nvmex.

I was my fault and the installation is done with no other problems. Smiley Happy
