Re: Troubles with X1 Carbon 2018 (X1C6) TouchPad and TrackPoint under Linux

You may try donwloading the .deb and doing the install manually [or even adding the experimental repos if you know what you are doing]

Usually kernel packages tend to have pretty good cross-intallation properties.

Yes I think I will give a try with kernel in experimental repo.

Once again, thanks a lot for your support. Will provide feedback.

Re: Troubles with X1 Carbon 2018 (X1C6) TouchPad and TrackPoint under Linux

I tried to use latest available kernel under Debian from the experimental (4.17.2) but still I could not get the touchpad working. Basically it does not recognize that I have a synaptic touchpad and only likes when I ise proto=imps. I also had a lot of troubles to install the Fix for the throttling.

I think that I was missing something and/or that without using UEFI boot mode something is changing.

BTW I ended up installing Kubuntu and Kernel 4.17.2 from the mainline and wverything is working smoothly. Not happy Debian was not getting where I wanted but I do not have enough time and need to have  working laptop ASAP. I am a bit sad but ok. Now I can start working :)

Thanks everybody for the great help and for sharing knwoeldge, scripts and everything else!

Hey ZZ I'm glad it is working better for you!

By the way, how is your trottling going? Myself I am having serious problems but didn't install the permanent trotlling fix; the laptop works well under win.

Hi Ejgallego,

I installed the lenovo fix script that was also not compiling in debian. It looks to he working fine even if I tried to undervolt but still did not find a stable configuration. I definitely recommend to use the script, it's fantastic!

Hey ZZ thanks for the answer!

So "no stable configuration yet" means that you still get some bad trottling scenarios? [I measure with s-tui]

No, sorry for confusion! For unstable I mean when playing with undervolting. If I leave default configuration on undervolting everything works perfectly!!

I’m having this freeze bug as well on a brand new X1 carbon. Just tried installing Ubuntu 18.04 on it and this is driving me nuts! Completely unusable.

Just installed kernel 4.19.0 on Ubuntu 18.04, no luck. Any other suggestions? Do I need to do anything besides the kernel upgrade?
