Updating BIOS on Linux

2017-12-10, 0:08 AM

Hello, i am an owner of Z500 Touch Laptop (ideapad) - Type 20221.

In order to get rid of the Hotkey mode (F1-F12 keys are in function mode by default) i need to upgrade my BIOS (current version: 1.18).

However, the only install file that i've found is an *.exe that is obviously designed to run under windows, and right now the only OS that i have installed is Debian 9 stretch. I've tried to run this file under DOS (bootable USB stick), but with no success.

How am i supposed to perform BIOS update without installing Windows?
