Re: Validity Fingerprint Reader Linux

sudo fprint_demo

Will not show me my 138a:0097 on my Lenovo T470 with Ubuntu 18:04 - should this work according to this repo?

Re: Validity Fingerprint Reader Linux

For me, on my Lenovo Thinkpad L570, running Ubuntu 18.04, this was the solution!:
Section "1. FPrint" on “Fingerprint readers integration” team - https://launchpad.net/~fingerprint .
First:
To find out the ID of your fingerprint reader, run the “lsusb” command in Terminal and look into the sixth column of the output.

Re: Validity Fingerprint Reader Linux

How to make the fingerprint sensor work there are no graphical interfaces that work as it does to certify the T570 if one of the main functions does not go

I look forward to one day being able to finally use it

Re: Validity Fingerprint Reader Linux

The drivers are the responsibility of the hardware manufacture, not the reseller. To blame Lenovo for this issue is pointless and a waste of time.

Focus on hammering the hardware sources for not producing hardware drivers and DLL files for their products. Even Windows 10 had to include it's own proprietary drivers for touchpads....

Re: Validity Fingerprint Reader Linux

Its not at all pointless to urge Lenovo to ask its supplier (the hardware manufacturer in this particular case) to provide drivers for a common OS. Selecting the manufacturer to provide a subsystem is clearly Lenovo's responsibility.
