Re: Yoga 900/910 Survey: Which Linux distro are you running?

2017-02-23, 6:32 AM

Hi, I had same problem, what I have done is:

systemctl stop iio-sensor-proxy

There should be a better way to do it, probably not to stop the sensor but disable the rotation.

Anyone ?

I've installed openSuse 42.2. Out of the box, touchpad, touchscreen, and probably other stuff is not working, even after an online update :-(

I'll try to get it running soon.

Regards,

It works out of the box with Debian Stretch, both touchpad and touch screen, the rotation works with the accelerometer with the package  iio-sensor-proxy, but I prefer to disable the rotation. My model is 900s.

I prefer reverse how scroll works, changing it on gnome-control-panel.

Both Touchpad and Touchscreen work in Ubuntu Gnome on a Yoga 910. I disabled Auto-rotate since I do not want it and it is a bit funky. Just in case, you  do need to apply a fix to get the Wifi to work (http://askubuntu.com/questions/549392/ubuntu-on-lenovo-yoga-3-pro).

Re: Yoga 900/910 Survey: Which Linux distro are you running?

Hi guys,

I've a little update,

So, in the past 6 month, I was working with ubntu 16.04 on my yoga 900-13ISK2 (4K). The main problems were:

1) Touchpad didn't work after sleep, need to do F2 + F7 trick.

2) Rotation - didn't work.

3) Poor Battery life!  Battery was draining very fasttt! From 100% to 15% in 4 hours more or less (full brightness).

4) High cpu load without any special reason, which also cause the fans to turn on and off and make this airplane noise.

5) Poor bluetooth connenctivity - I needed to turn on and off the blutooth in order to hear in "high fidelity" mode (the default mode was "low")  with my bluetooth headphones and somethimes it didn't connect at all, just after restarting my laptop.

So, I decide to act 2 days ago and Installed the new Ubuntu 17.04 and...

1) fix.

2) still don't work, but there is a fix out there.

3) It's still early to say, but seems the battery life improved dramatically! God bless america!

4) cpu back to normal for this time.

5) fix!

For conclusion, Ubuntu 17.04 looks the same as 16.04 LTS, but it feels more solid and like a grown up version of ubuntu. No doubt, that it supports better in newer systems drivers like the yoga 900.

enjoy!

Re: Yoga 900/910 Survey: Which Linux distro are you running?

@damiasol

thinking of getting a Yoga 900S. Do the following things work on Debian/Fedora 26?

1. Standby / Hibernation: resume while opening the convertible?

2. Are the keys locked when it's used as tablet?

3. Is Fedora 26 or any other wayland distro working?

4. Touchscreen / HiDPI scaling or screen issues (Fedora 26 is the only one that pre-installs IIO sensor package that enables screen rotation)?

5. Is Firefox working (touch scrolling should work with e10s enabled)?

At the end I'm just looking for a fanless linux tablet / convertible that can run Firefox & Calibre and has an On-Screen Keyboard :P

1. Standby / Hibernation: resume while opening the convertible?

Suspend is working OK. (Hibernation to disk not tested)

2. Are the keys locked when it's used as tablet?

Yes, the keys are blocked.

3. Is Fedora 26 or any other wayland distro working?

Unknow, I am using Debian  Stretch.

4. Touchscreen / HiDPI scaling or screen issues (Fedora 26 is the only one that pre-installs IIO sensor package that enables screen rotation)?

Touchscreen works, screen rotation works. Some HiDPI problems with Debian Stretch, some apps has very small fonts.

5. Is Firefox working (touch scrolling should work with e10s enabled)?

Unknow, not tested, let me make some tests.
