intel wifi 5100 and linux on my t500 part 2

2012-03-06, 8:24 AM

Okay so in my research of compatibility with the 5100 and pretty much most version of linux I have read they are compatible.  Some folks were saying I had to install new drivers maybe recompile the source and the such.

Well I am running one of the lastest kernels with several variants of linux from a usb stick at the moment, the intel website said not to worry about the driver if I have the latest kernel and none of my wifi adapters are active in the gui.  I did iwconfig I believe was the command and saw atleast one ( i have a usb one)  I saw slan0 an a ra0.  Not sure if ra0 was the modem or the internal wifi cards.  I guess I need a tutorial or some more insightful advice.
