Re: Lenovo P780 Kitkat 4.4.2 upgrade: Post problems and changes

Another problem:

When received there is/are App. update notified at main page "Notification Bar".

Open the update page by activate the "Notification Bar". The system straight away start all the update. We cannot chose what/which App. to up-date or not to up-date (unable to select). Please make it for any update let end user to chose what/which App. to update. (Previous version JB have the choice)

Had switch back to other phone inform others not to get Lenovo phone for the mean time wait until I have tested their update.

I had being very supportive on China products since late 80’s, please donot let us down.

kgsiaw...ya thats one lost feature and meantime I guess u have to go to PLAYSTORE > SETTING > AUTO UPDATE APPS > and select " DO NOT AUTO UPDATE APPS.  That ...wil solve the problem meantime.  So if u they have any updates notifications...u can choose to update or not...at the playstore CLICK to update or not.

OBVIOUSLY this Android 4.4.2 are just FULL OF BUGS/MISTAKES/ PROBLEMS!!! I just wonder why it was not really tested before release?  What the hell were they doing?  Its causing so much inconvenients and problems.  We all waiting for the updates correction and I hope the team will address the critical problems first. Thanks!!

Re: Lenovo P780 Kitkat 4.4.2 upgrade: Post problems and changes

Yes, i have experienced the same problem couple of times, and based on this
experience i thought the battery has gone out of order and even emailed
midhcare@lenovo.com) regarding my warranty claim for the dismal performance
for the battery within the warranty period.

Also, an faced additional problem that suddenly my outgoing from the
stopped working (best Airtel smartphone network). When used to call on any
number, the phone screen used to say dialing and then the call log page
used to come up. Reached out to the provider Airtel but they confirmed that
everything is fine and working with my SIM card. In another phone the SIM
worked fine.

Later i tried experimenting and found that the KitKat update has stopped my
3G network on SIM slot 1 and was not working. When I switched to 2G (edge)
network mode it got fine and I was able to make a call.

The problem persists and no solution. I am using 2G network despite paying
for 3G data tariff and bill. Thanks to Lenovo Kitkat upgrade.

ATTENTION LENOVO and MR WANG - could you please roll back the Jelly Bean
again so that we can go back to the previous version of Jelly Bean and
enjoy our stable life in this busy life and work schedule rather than
wasting time and also missing our on important professional calls. This
experience is not tormenting and I am seriously thinking on taking a legal
action against Lenovo Smartphone division and its technical team for the
pathetic support and non-responsiveness. I will be consulting my lawyers
also reaching out to consumer forums (marking a mail to one such group).

I am also considering launching a social media page like facebook page
against this upgrade and problems.

We are your valuable users and not your labs guinea pigs or rats that your
are experimenting with pathetic upgrade.

Please pull up your socks and set this right and listen to us, or else you
will loose on a big chunk of Smartphone users who have a healthy purse
which you are targeting and this would certainly cost your dear customers
and their loyalty which is very hard to find in the open market with so
many competitors.

We call for action, please hear us URGENTLY.

Mr.Wang has assured that there will be an update very soon. Mr. Wang, I
understand is a Lenovo developer and has assured that the update for the
battery issue is ready. We only hope that he comes out with an assurance
when the OTA update will be available. Meanwhile let us appreciate the
goodness of Lenovo P780 which served us until this point of time. Let this
be also a lesson for lenovo too to really test the updates before making it
available for the customer.

Mr. Wang are you listening?

Re: Lenovo P780 Kitkat 4.4.2 upgrade: Post problems and changes

2014-08-13, 3:45 AM

I just got a feedback from a friend:

WhatsApp incoming message notification by tone only. There is no visual indication/notification. The front screen LED indicator does not function any more, it use to be activated in Green color when there is incoming message. The same apply to SMS. Now the function is gone, his first experience missed lot of Incoming Messages. He said he had set the WhatsApp notification indication to Green (default white, multi-color selection)

He also had switch to other phone. Any one have solution to the technical issuse?

What happen to Lenovo software development team? If I were them I send official apology to everyone that effected by the software, to show the responsibility and customer care. Silent is not the solution. (my own opium)

I even call up Hong Kong Tel No. that publish in their website but I was told that they only do service & repair. Sorry I had try my best to help.

Dear aloksingh,

Sorry to hear about the 3G problem you have. At the same time, we did a lot of testings locally, but unfortunately, cannot find the problem you have. Could you provide more informaiton about the issue which help us to resolve it? Appreciate it.

.  In which city do you have the issue? What's the operator name? (Airtel? just confirm).

. What's the problem exacty? can you see the 3G signal in the status bar? can you make outgoing voice call? can you recieve incoming call? can you send SMS in 3G? can you use data connection in 3G?

. Would you mind helping get the log? Loging procedure:

1. Switch to 3G network. turn on log: in dialing UI input ####3333# --> Engineer mode --> SystemLog --> Start logs.

2. turn on Airplane mode, then turn off Airplane mode.

3. Make voice call.

4. Turn off logs.

5. get the logs from /storage/sdcard0/mtklog

Thanks a lot~
