Lenovo should be announced officially this problem and to inform the clients who have given money to buy these phones. When will correct the problem?

Re: VIBE P1m OTA Update Failed

2015-12-17, 7:42 AM

So I'm mainly concerned about the malicious software on my phone right now. For a few days I have been getting that weird pop up message saying "Something in chinese": 85.apk. I didn't pay much attention to it at first.

This morning I was unpleasently woken up by my phone vibrating to indicate some kind of notification. There were a total of 4 from a strange app with a thumpnail that portrays a woman in bikini. The app itself was called something strange and the notification was telling me something about an update and to confirm restart that might wipe my data? I instantly closed the notifications and deleted the app that had installed itself while I was sleeping. Then I noticed that there's another one like that. It had the google chrome thumbnail and it was called adult browser. I deleted that aswell instantly.

To say the least I paniced a bit. After that I downloaded NOD32 and ran a deep scan. The scan showed the aforementioned 85.apk as a TrojanDropper.Agent.DB and "com.google.camera.fun" twice as a trojan. These files could not be deleted by NOD32.

So a few hours ago I found this thread and saw that it's an issue with the last update. I saw the fix with the micro SD card, but unfortunately I have lost mine, so I guess I'm waiting for the official lenovo update fix.

Sorry for the long post, but my question is this:  Is the sudden installation of those two malware aps correlated to the com.google.fun trojan  or should I be extra worried?

And second, I disabled the app from the settings(>apps > all). It doesn't seem to restart itself. Does this completely stop it from doing it's malicious work?

All,

Lenovo has investigated this issue and determined that the trojan is not part of our image and was likely introduced somewhere during distribution between Lenovo and the customer.

We are investigating further for a technical solution to the resulting impacts to the OTA process .

Best regards,

Mark
