An Android One device would be a good alternative. Updates direct from Google.

Android One Xiaomi Mi A1 available. Good mid-range phone. About $250. We will be reviewing it.

Sorry just a sad joke... ;)

Dear Lenovo release security updates for P2 (are you aware of blueborne and wpa KRACK?). Just get rid of your adjustments/features to system and release stock Android - I will happily trade them for latest security updates, which is more important nowdays.

It is so lame that there are no security updates...

Provide Security Patch's Atleast For P2

2018-07-14, 3:47 AM

We know you guys are tooooo busy & stubborn regarding your policies but you need to provide Security Patch's atleast to the customers atleast. I don't understand what a type of company you are who don't care about customers who believed in you  & don't care about them. You can provide Security update in six months atleast if it isnt feasible to you.

There isn't any update since December which got 1st November 2017 security Patch.

We should stop buying Lenovo phone in future even though they provide best specifications mobile. Without proper updates any phone is useless

Re: Provide Security Patch's Atleast For P2

Device Security should be a top priority with device manufacturers. A phone like the P2 shouldn't be abandoned for OS versions (which should improve security in the broad sense with each bew OS) or regular security updates within OS versions (timely security updates in the narrow sense). This is increasingly critical with so many people using mobile devices for banking, online purchases etc. So rapidly after they have been brought to msrket. This is a very irresponsible attitude to customer support and especially, Customer Protection! In the nsrron sense, and Society in general, in the wider sense, given the vulnerability of communications devices to being used to host hacking attacks. If it is really true, that Lenovo are not going to fulfill what are pretty serious Duties and Obligations to the customers of their P2 devices, kindly explain what other options I have other than throwing my P2 into the waste bin, and buying a device from a Company that takes Security issues Seriously enough to warrant buying their products, instead?

This is Not Anywhere near being a Good Situation is it? ?

Lenovo and Android OS

2018-08-09, 15:26 PM

Let's be frank here. Lenovo launched a product in the P2 phone, then effectively abandoned anything other than superficial support immediately. The phone has capable hsrdware, and Should be running Android Oreo 8.1 by now. The very easy option for Lenovo would have been to deliver Android One for the P2, with its guaranteed two years of updates to two "One" versions which if done now, would be P and Q, plus guarabteed Security updates for 3 years. Then for tablets like my 8 4, they should be going with Android Go. So, incapable of working an upgrade roadmap themselves that is coherent and the necessary service to its customers, which Google have actually done for them, Lenovo decided to shaft us instead?

You are an embarrassment to the IT profession (which I've been in for most of my life. Do everybody a favour, including  yourselves, andAcquire the businesses you have acquired, and don't acquire any more, because you don't have the competence to run ANY IT company oroperlp. I'm done with you, my P2 phone is now binned, to be replaced by a Nokia, and the tablet is soon to be binned and replaced with a Huawei. Thanks for the major disappointment in a Company that I once both respected and recommended.☹️

Re: WHY AM I NOT GETTING LATEST ANDRIOD SECURITY PATCH FOR MY LENOVO P2a42

2018-08-13, 6:58 AM

Because they are not releasing for others also ?, you shouldn't buy Lenovo if you need  security updates or any or any major updates. Generally Lenovo provides only one major update along with the security patch update in rare cases like in November they will provide you security patches if its critical so don't expect from now just enjoy the device as it is. They barely support for six months to one year.
