SD card requires formatting after phone fatory reset

Hi All,

I need to access some documents stored in an SD card, but apparently after a phone factory reset the card can no longer be accessed

Please support to find answer for the below questions

1. Is there any chance the phone encrypted the SD card when the user did not ask for this?

2. Can Lenovo provide the AES128 key and a method to recover the data if this really occured?

Thank you,

Aluf

Re: SD card requires formatting after phone fatory reset

Hi pointdexter,

If your SD card was formatted as adoptable storage, it is not possible to retrieve your data from it.

(it was encrypted with phone's "fingerprint" which had gone with the factory reset)

Lenovo TAB4 10 PLUS (Model number: Lenovo TB-X704F, Build number: TB-X704F_S000055_180507_ROW)

Re: SD card requires formatting after phone fatory reset

If the files on the SD card is important and you don't want to lose them, you'd better not format the SD card. Or you'll lose the files permanently. I suggest you stop writing new data on the SD card, and them use a third party to retrieve the data from it. Some recovery programs, such as Bitwar, disk drill, recuva, etc. all can restore kinds of files from SD card. You can search online and choose one to have a try.

Remember to back up necessary files in advance.

Good luck.
