Hope I'm finally done with the sync problem. I've found somewhere LenovoContactsProvider for Android 6.01, uninstalled the existing Contact Storage app, installed the provider, previously cleared data for apps. Just in case, I've cleared data for Google Contacts Sync app as well. After rebooting there was a long sync process, but seems like all my 225 contacts are back to phone now. One weird thing: after i've done that, native Contacts Manager app stopped working. I've used it to send SMS. I've cleared data - it did not help. **removed** it - i thought - uninstalled it as well and installed 3rd party Go SMS Pro instead.

Here is the detailed tutorial of transferring contacts from Gmail to Android:
Step 1. Login to your Gmail account on the computer, then go to "Contacts" menu on the left panel.
Step 2. Choose the button of "More" and click "Export..." option in the drop-down list
Step 3. Here, you can choose "All Contacts" and tick the output format "vCard". After that, you can tap on "Export" button to save the Gmail contacts on desktop computer as .vcf.
Hope it's useful.
