can't upgrade to S251

2018-01-30, 8:58 AM

It's not possible to do the upgrade to S251.

Everytime I'm downloading update 251(95MB).

It keeps saying that I have to reboot.

So I continue and the phone reboots, but Notting happens. No update is getting installed.

In the past I never had issues with updates.

What can I do to do the update?

Going to recovery mode doesn't help also..

Wiped cache, then install file, it seems to install but then still at 0%, 'failed'.

Hi Cajmere,

We understand how important it is for you to have a good and working device. May you please confirm if you have enough memory to install the new update? You may also backup your files and perform a factory data reset and check if it can be installed afterwards. Thanks!

Finally had time tot do a factory reset.

I have enough space. 17gig available.

After doing a factory reset and cleaning cache i was still not able to do an update.

I don't have a clue why because you don't get error message, only 'failed'. With such error message is can't do a thing'

Always problems with those smartphones. With normal laptops and desktop never issues and those Running also Linux kernel.

That is a misleading and non sense statement as many people have no problems with phones as well as many people have problems with computers.

Do you really need to install update 251?

I didn't install it because my phone (stock) is working beautifully so like the old say... if it works, don't break it!

If you want I can give you a link to download the file so you can do an offline update.

As far as i Know s251 contains security updates, so Yes it's needed because 244 is  'broken'.

And misleading, Yes and no. Yeah there are lots of phones without problems, but if there is a problem with software it's a Mess to solve it. On pc you have the possibility  to dive in system logs and check where and when it's going wrong and solve it or trying ;-)

I can download the update, but it fails to install.

So getting it is no problem.

I do computer troubleshooting since computers became a commercial product and I can tell you that the way you do is wrong because you seem to know everything but pretend to say that all phones have problems but computers not.

Since it looks like that you prefer to vent you anger against phones instead of looking for a solution for your phone, then let it be but you won't find a solution, as long as you act this way.

Sorry but i never had luck in smartphones. All of them had troubles and yes i Know not everybody has problems. In my environment it looks like everybody has none.

And yes i want to solve my problem but i don't have a clue how and no i don't everything about pc's and phones but i'm always want to learn and solve my problems(without formatting if possible).

If a factory reset and cleaning cache doesn't help what's else can i do? If there are other solutions i'd like to try them.

I worry there might be a language barrier here, so why didn't you just do a factory reset insted of asking what would happen next, just do it, NOT???

Did you by any change modify the phone like unlocking the bootloader, rooting, installing this and that? Because I believe you have done something!

In my opinion you always had problems with phone (what you say) and by judging the way you pretend to troubleshoot that is the reason.

Yes, maybe a language barrier. English is not my native language (sometimes i need google translate ;-)).

But now i'm on my desktop and a re-read my last reply and some words are missing.

Ok, what i've done so far.

Clear Cache -> didn't help.
Factory reset -> Doesn't help also.
Clear cache again -> No Luck.

No, i haven't not unlocked the bootloader or rooted it.
Couple of months back my device was still in garanty so i prefer not to do something like that.
The only thing i do/did, is making options for developpers visible, so i can switch off the animation.

It's weird, i know. Never had something before. All the previous updates i could install without any problem.
