Re: Access Connection SMS Menu disappeared!!!!

Dear Hoox,

SMS now works on my Sierra Device... your manual worked fine! Great Job and big THX!

Additionally the SMS Central Number of the provider needed to be edited in the XMLs to be able to receive and send SMS. In my case it was "1760000443" instead of Vodafone's number.

AccessConnection hangs sometimes, if Vodafone's Tool is active. When I need the feature to send SMS to other phones or to activate a feature of my ISP provider by SMS, I am through your solution now able to do so. If Vodafone's Tool is inactive AC works just fine as it should.

Perfect solution and work arround.

Fabulous! So glad it worked it out. Not the ideal solution I know but at least you have a way to work. Good call on the provider SMS number. I never even thought about that! Well played!

All the best

Here is what seems to work with T-Mobile in Germany:

 <profile>
    <mcnc>262001</mcnc> <carrierid>262</carrierid> <SMSSupport>true</SMSSupport> <country>Germany</country> <nwprovider>T-Mobile</nwprovider> </profile>

its gets the SMS Application to show up. I didnt get it to send sms though... "sending failed" is all I get.

I hope I find a way to provide the sms service center number, which might be the problem.

This is completely off topic I know but I cannot find anything and hoping someone here has seen this or knows of a quick solution?? Perhaps? Just putting it out there. Maybe an administrator or forum moderator can point me in teh right direction?

My Access Connections on my X201 Tablet is working perfectly now with the exception of that it drops the 3G/HSDPA connection every now and then with no warning or error. It looks connected in the taskbar icon but no browsing is possible and IM apps just disconnect. That's the first sign of a problem. Also there is no set pattern. Sometimes it stays connected for many hours. Other times it has been as little as 15 minutes or so. Sometimes with lots of apps running. Other times nothing. Simply right click disconnecting in the taskbar menu and trying to reconnect has no effect. It does not reconnect. I have to physically switch off all wireless devices with the hard switch. The Fn+F5 switch doesn't even work.

Very strange but getting extremely annoying. If anyone has any idea where I can be pointed to for this I would be hugely grateful!

Regards

Hi,

I had the same problem with AC 5.72 installed one or two times. A restart of my t410s helped every time and I havent had the problem since a while.

I think you should open a new topic for that unless I think this is related to AC 5.72 in gerneral. You might get more replys there.

But before doing that you should reset the AC profiles to the standard ones or reinstall AC to disable the SMS feature, even I DONT think this has something to do with it. But make sure anyhow.

Futhermore you should see if the problem occures on WWAN connections only or WLAN as well. I am not sure about that.

Thanks for the quick reply but Im afraid this happened in 5.62 before the upgrade and definitely before the SMS fix. I will keep looking around I guess.
Cheers

Re: Access Connection SMS Menu disappeared!!!!

JohnRiper,

My sim card is SMS enabled and i have sent a couple of sms's and i do recieve them, but when i click on the pop up to read the SMS's, nothing happens. The help menu of "access connections" points out that - SMS Message box is not supported with F3507g.

Are there any fixes for this ?

Like said before, I will not check if your device is enabeled for text messages and read release notes. The same is for forms post. I know why I said, especially because for this devcice it looks like it depends on the OS you use.

However, if you see the box, it is possible in general. I guess you are using Windows XP or Vista and so there are good chances that you should get the tool running and seeing the messages.

For an howto please start your further reading here:

I will anwser more qualified question if they come up.
