Access Connections 4.52 problems with NON-BROADCAST-SSID

2008-06-12, 11:16 AM
It keeps dropping the connection every 30 seconds or so.  I've tested this thoroughly, and I can reporduce this 100% of the time.

I'm running Vista x86.
IBM a/b/g PCI Express

What I notice is that, I see that it sees my router twice.  Once with the SSID, and one with a blank SSID (both with identical MAC addressess).  It flips back and fourth between the two, and my best guess is once it hits the one without the SSID, that's when the connection goes dead.  I can get it working if I broadcast my SSID, but that is not an option.  Please fix asap.  Thank you.

Click on the Start pearl, and right click Network and choose Properties.  Then click on Manage Wireless Networks in the upper left.  You should see your connection profile, right click it and choose Properties.  Make sure the third checkbox "Connect even even if the Network is not Broadcasting" is checked.
You also might want to see about getting the this hotfix from Microsoft:

Thank you for your response.

The box was already checked.  The hotfix you mentioned is not available to the public.

Just to let you know, its a fresh and clean installation of Vista SP1 and all ThinkVantage software.

I have the latest windows and thinkvantage updates.  The latest BIOS.  And verified the latest version of the wireless driver.  I've had XP in the past on the same laptop with no problems on this wireless access point.  I have another Lenovo laptop with XP that has no problems with the wireless access point.

I'm wondering if anyone out there is willing to verify this problem?

I guess there is STILL no fix for this. And it only happens on some PCs - same model, same adapter...

Hi,

I had a similar situaiton and I fixed it with upgrade to 5.5 . Did you tested this verison?
Please note, that in case you want to upgrade to 5.5 , before doing this install the latest LAN and WIfi driver + Power Management driver, Hotkey and System interface driver and then as the last one AC.

And also try to check following settings:

- Open AC-> select the profile that you are using in the Location profiles tab-> go to Edit -> in the Wireless Setting tab go to Settings and in this new window make sure, that the Power save mode is set to Low.

Let me know, if any of the abot will make any change

Cheers
